Along the road...of life..............

Those of you who live in the Stanwood/Camano area might have woken up to something different on the road....some have seen these before and wondered what was up...others of you know wassup and even know the who that these signs address :)
My son in law comes home from deployment today...it has been a long 7 months for those involved...should have only been 6 months but for some reason it ended up being 7 months for Stan.
We don't think much about the families of the "guys" over there. We know that they are protecting us and our freedom...we might even vehemently disagree with being there...but all of us can feel the heart strings tugging when we understand that a wife and couple of kids have given up their "right" to have their husband home and have allowed him to go off and serve his country. Most have no idea what is involved when you are a military family....Most of the time your life is not your own...you are owned by Uncle Sam and the powers that be. You can't call in for a "personal" day...or even a sick day easily....you are worked long hours with no "just" compensation...you could go away from your family and work 7 days a week for most of the time that you are gone. In hot, humid, yucky weather with a opposing military that doesn't want their freedom to destroy your country taken away from them. You hear a totally different story from the "media" that paints a bleak picture of our men and a different picture of the "locals".....can I give you just a glimpse into that??? They are not reporting what is really going on...they are promoting an agenda and stirring up the people....how do I know this...hum...I know someone who is first hand reporting information on the people of the country that he is working to set up a fair and just place for the people there....Now I don't know any military secrets....if I did he would have to kill me...that is the joke around here...can't remember from what movie that is from.... but Stan is very careful not to let out the classified stuff for the protection of himself and the country. Sounds noble but which one of you can keep secrets that well????
So without further yapping..........some of the signs along the side of the road he will be traveling tonight as he and his family drive home

guess this one tugs at the heart the most....2 little girls have been without their dad and are so excited to have him home again

words of a loving wife who made all these (and many more) signs

a double take :)

thot this was a special one honoring the fact that Stan had just made Chief a couple of months ago

thank you to the sign company that honors our men by making free signs for them

another heart tugger...this is the first sign I saw this morning...it is the last one that is near the end of the journey for them

final destination this evening.....HOME SWEET HOME!

last but not least...loved these little flags that lined the driveway

so Welcome home Stan...you have been sorely missed and can't wait to see you and give you a hug!

Thank you SO much for sharing this! I really appreciate your glimpse into life in a military family. I read (but don't comment) Noel's blog, too, so I knew he was on his way home. What a wonderful and caring welcome home he is going to have. I'm sure he will really appreciate all the love showered upon him!

Jackie...make sure to tell Stan that we really do appreciate all that he does and the sacrifices that he has made to keep us safe. May God watch over his family in his absence. They are so very lucky to have you to share their story. Hope he enjoys his time with his family and may he be home with them for a long time. I can not imagine how strong your daughter must be. Hugs kisses and smiles from the Throne family. Oliver is a true joy but I am sure you hear that a lot
