Be-deckled

Well it is finished.....hurray....
but here are some steps along the way
part of the side going up

last bit of freedom of jumping off the side before it gets enclosed again

Dave ordered new glasses and got these funky sunglasses...he didn't think they would be this color...he was thinking more of a navy blue??? :)

the deck finished without all the schtuff on it yet

we interrupt this deck post to post a few of the gang who will be enjoying the deck
Mindy

Cody after his summer groom job...but his tail is still nice and fluffy

the whole gang! at least the ones at this point :)

Bailey hiding in the bushes to keep cool...altho it was FREEZING earlier in the day

Cassidy enjoying the deck already

Ok..back to matters that be
this is the fallout on the grass from painting the sides of the deck...after we were halfway thru we found an easier way to spray paint that didn't take quite as much paint and got better coverage...duh...why did it take that long???

OK...here it is...what you have been waiting for....it is finished even with the frufru on it :)

the entire side from the pic above

and the biggest frufru :) can't be too mean to him right now cuz he put up that handy dandy railing for me :)

cataloger of events

I love my job...it is the self appointed cataloger of events :) So we got this deck installed and now we needed to finish the sides of it...we had an ex-pen around it to keep the pups on the deck and it was a good idea...however...it needed a finish job on it and my husband wanted something where you could set drinks on...my response... "??????" (interpretation...why? cuz we entertain that much that the few tables that we have can't hold drinks?) But I digress!
We surprisingly agreed on what we wanted the finished product to look like and then it was time for my "cabana" boy to go to work bringing that to fruition :)
This is kind of a before picture (already I am falling down on my job) This is the opposite side that he started on but it shows the deck and the posts up ready for the spray painted 'fencing' to go up...it doesn't show the bush he took out to get to it... oh well...sacrifices need to be made sometimes...altho it could have been trimmed instead of hacked off totally....... :( At least he didn't "prune" the other one....and yes...bushes were harmed to make this come true :)

showing Dave hard at work putting the finishing touches on one side

duh...where does this go again?

takes lots of concentration to make a cut with a circular saw...can't notice it that much but you can see a tiny bit of bump on his head.......apparently when you are getting wood big metal things that hold that wood do not want to move out of the way or give any when a head is moving toward them

here is a better pic of the bump...didn't get a picture of the thumb that he had injured earlier in the week... :)

here is the side done :) WHOOPEE!

more to come when it is totally done...and with the flowers back on the deck :)

Mundane

I am a person who gets kicks out of things coming together...it is really funny how mundane those things might seem to someone else but to me I am elated when something I visualize in my head actually turns out looking "right" when it is implemented like I envisioned it to be....
so it goes with the current 'fixing' of the bathrooms...I got my sewing room looking mighty fine and now have started on my bathrooms...with other houses i have lived in I was never sure that I was going to stay forever...with this house I can see it in my life for a long time...we have lived here for almost 5 years now and I am finally getting around to some inside improvements...or at least some things that I have dreamed about...ha that tells you a bit about my dreams....very small and seemingly unimportant to the vast majority of people :)

This weekend my 'cabana' boy (aka my husband) painted the bathrooms for me...altho it was a color he wasn't real fond of he did it for me anyway....today he hung my new 'towel rack' (aka drapery rod) in my bathroom...I love big towels and the small towel racks never quite fit my towel...so now I have room plus spare to hang it :)

oh i love this!!!

also got this double hook to hang my hand towel.....darn i am good :)

close up of my hookie :)

told you this post would be mundane for the masses :)
this week there should be bead board and chair rail up to finish the bathroom walls...and a new deck too :) busy busy summer

When the moon in the sky like a big pizza pie.....

tha's BEAUTIFUL! Ok...so I changed the words to the song to fit the pictures :)

the moon was so big in the trees last night...love how the moon moves around up here....right now it is coming up in this stand of trees behind us...in a different season it is way to the right when it comes up :)

so I got out my camera and tripod and wanted to take pictures of this lovely moon in all its glory...BUT being the auto girl that I am I couldn't remember how to change shutter speed on my newer camera so I called my expert camera person and she got me to change it...luckily she has the same camera so it works well to have her help ;) (thanks, Noel)

This was my first attempt before the phone call

during the call as she got me pointed in the right direction on how to do this....

one more close and personal...doesn't it look like you could just reach out and touch that man in the moon?

The bummer of this whole thing is that I had other pics on my camera and when I looked at the first picture I saw that I had downloaded all those pics but didn't scroll thru and found out when I put these into my pictures that I hadn't downloaded the ones I had taken of the girls at the park :( Major bummer!!!!!

Sax...and things to come

ok...for all you naughty thinkers...yes it is SAX! and not the other word that you thot :) (you know who you are that read that first !!!)
Dave decided that his oldest granddaughter should carry on the tradition and get his barry sax. Madison has played a bit with his alto sax that he gave to Madison's father but for some reason he thot that Maddie should get his BIG sax...I think it weighs more than she does :)
So there was an unveiling of the present from PA

hum....think the smile says it all

Pa explaining the "worth" of his sax...not like she could even understand half of what he was saying :)

Missed the picture of her playing it....or should I say trying to play it :) Bet her mom is real happy with her dad right now as she tries to play this thing :)

Now...on to things to come :)

We got our new deck to be delivered...man that doesn't look like a lot of money there does it?

Dave laid it out on the patio...why???? cuz???
Anyway..this is the way it is kinda gonna look when done...much darker than what we have but it should be really nice...and I think we have almost enough to do the front porch also...just need a couple more boards and some more screws :)

welcome back, ole friends

We have lived in this house for almost 5 years now and these Attic Babies have been in the attic so to speak...they had been lovingly put in a box and stored in the garage. when I repainted my room and thot to put up a shelf over my sewing machine I thot of putting sewing stuff on the shelf until I remembered my long lost "friends" and the joy they brought me...so there they are sitting in a place of honor again...all together instead of throughout my house but loving being out of that box...at least that is what they told me ;)

On the other wall two more sit...I didn't want to squish them all together

up close and personal

love the name of this girl....Fertile Mertle....there are two babies in the basket, one in her arms and one in the oven....reminds me of me :)

one last look before I say goodnight....wonder if they talk to each other when "humans" aren't around :)

weekend project :)

Oh I so love these paint samples that you can buy now to test colors out on the walls before you actually buy....the camera doesn't catch the true color as the background color is a yellow but the blue/green samples in real life are much better than my camera caught.
On one of these samples one was more green and one more blue...on the lighter of the two blue/green ones I actually combined them to make them the color that I actually painted the walls...oh did I say "I painted"? my bad...........Dave painted :)

this is another wall where the colors actually showed darker when put up there....it was my test wall to see if the color would work in the room...i actually painted primer over the first samples that i had cuz they were way too dark

now VOILA for the painted room...there was lots white already with the cupboards and sewing table and cutting table....I painted the corkboard white also to keep the theme...

another side of the room...figured I would store my batting up on top of the cupboard that has my material in it :) Can't wait to finish putting the stuff up that goes on that peg board.

Dave also put up new blinds for me...oh I love those cordless ones....thinking of making him put some up in the dining/living room :) HA!!! he is gonna love that :)

the last wall...peg board back up

and all my quilting rulers and embroidery hoops up :)

woohoo...now i need to choose the bathroom color that is going to be next weekends project

oh the wonders of drama

went to a drama camp presentation tonight :) the two chollar kids were in it and they had a ball...these pictures are probably boring for anyone who doesn't know them but oh well :) we had fun..wish i had taken my camera with the zoom lens to get some closer shots but...duh...i forgot :(

almost all the cast of the play

a skit they had to make up

a different take on the skit they had to make up

jackie and the beanstalk

grandma catching the wolf

grandma beating up the wolf

three little pigs fractured fairy tale

what if??

what if david didn't slay goliath?

what if Jesus didn't die on the cross?
