Tulips are blooming ....

Tulips are blooming in Holland-Michigan...Tulips bright colored and gay.....funny how some songs you learned eons ago still float thru the mind when least expected. I remember learning this song for a concert when I was somewhere in elementary school....those are the only two lines that I remember but I could blast them out if I needed to even today...heck and with the internet could probably find the rest of the lyrics....oh but I am not into wasting time like that :)
Altho I no longer even live in Michigan I still love tulips. I had bought these a couple of days ago and they adorn my dining table. Today I noticed that one was acting very un-tulipish and got the camera out to document it looking more like some other type of flower...well I am noexpert on flora and fauna but these are not supposed to open like this :)

this is a normal tulip....beauty in a cup

this one I took just cuz of how the sun was hitting the flowers making them almost see through

here is Bailey looking very uncomfortable in her pregnant state...less than a week to go before there is the pitter patter of little feet...actually it takes a while for the feet to patter but....

then there is one half of thing one and thing two...she was sitting so pretty until I got the camera and then she laid down.........oh well....

I'm no expert either, but I think you've got a rogue there! It sure wants to stand out and be different from the rest. *Ü* Such beautiful flowers!

Your doggie and puppy look so sweet!

the song went,
Tulips are blooming in Holland, Michigan
Tulips bright colored and gay.
Dance on the scrubbed streets of holland, michigan
when tulips bloom in may.
Polish your cobbelstones, starch your white caps
thousands of tulips put us on the map!
Tulips are blooming in holland, michigan
Tulips that bloom in may.

I also have remembered the first two lines of that song from so many years ago. I am so glad for the poster who posted the whole song.

When I was in elementary school in the 1969's, we listened to and participated in the U of M radio program "Festival of Song" twice a week, and Tulips are Blooming was one of the songs in the FOS songbook that we sang.

That should be in the 1960's.

I lived in North Muskegon when I learned that song for a program; maybe in 3rd grade. (around 1966, '67 or '68.) My teacher was Mrs. Wickland.

I grew up in Pontiac and I can remember using the wooden shoes and dancing to that song. Good memories.
